The Week Of The Gamer
E3 and Origins combine for a paradise for competitive non-sport
The next seven days are going to be the Best Week Ever if you like games. The Electronic Entertainment Expo will take place Monday through Thursday and Origins Game Fair picks up the ball on Thursday and go through the weekend. Both are practically institutions—E3 has been running since 1995, Origins since 1975—and both will combine to cover just about every game type nerds love. There will even be pro-level tournaments at each (Nintendo has a Smash Tourney, and Origins has stuff from Bushiroad, Mayfair, and many more) so you can get your highest level of game on. What’s not to love?
Well, there’s the small issue that the two events are separated by nearly 2,000 miles. There’s also the bit about both show run on Thursday, and with E3 being on the west coast, it’d be near impossible to pull off The Double. And then there’s the inconvenient truth that the demographics of the average video gamer and the average table gamer are quite different. To be fair, there’s a lot of overlap, but there are those who definitely prefer one or the other.
So, what do you prefer? Would you rather be at E3 this week, or at Origins?
