OTDT Roundabout 26 May 2015
We may have taken the day off, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a week’s worth of otaku news to catch up on.
-Speaking of weeks, this week’s sales of video games were bad. Like, historically bad.
-It sounds like anime isn’t faring much better. At least, that’s what Hideaki Anno is thinking. At least he’s being pragmatic about it?
-Back to games for a second, KLab address the heat-generating localization issues regarding their Love Live game.
-While anime and games seem to be in decline, Hello Kitty seems to be on the rise, as Sanrio has officially dropped anchor in North America.
-At least something positive to come out of Japanese film: Kiyoshi Kurosawa came out a winner at Cannes.
And now, the OTDT weather.
- It’s the premiere of Otaku Drive Time Season 87! Or something.
- Sara begins her summer reading list with Hit.
- Coins, Lies, and Videotape.
- Are indie games on Kickstarter dying?
- A side of Japanese window dressing.
- Japan, now with English subtitles.
That’s all from last week. Enjoy this week.
